Host plants:
The caterpillars live on Salix and Populus species (willow and poplar). Especially popular are Salix purpurea and Populus tremula.

Habitat:
Notodonta ziczac colonizes all habitats with occurence of host plants as river valleys, gravel pits, forest edges or gardens.

Life cycle:
The moths fly in two generations from late April to early September. Caterpillars are usually found from June to early October.

Endangerment factors:
Notodonta ziczac is one of the most common Notodontidae and not endangered.

Remarks:
Notodonta ziczac occurs from North Africa across Europe to Central Asia.
