Host plants:
The larvae feed most often on willows, presumably also poplars.
Habitat:
Smerinthus kindermannii inhabits Salicaceae sites of all kind, e.g. river valleys.
Life cycle:
Smerinthus kindermannii occurs in 2-3 generations between April and October. In more northerly regions or higher elevations only a single generation may predominate with summer adults.
Remarks:
Smerinthus kindermannii occurs from Anatolia and Cyprus across S-Russia, the Near and Middle East to the Himalayas, China and Mongolia.
